Toshiba launching family-friendly passive 3D LED TVs

Toshiba says its  VL series of LED 3D TVs has been designed for  'the family'.

Utilising passive polarised technology and coming with four pairs of polarised RealD glasses, there are 42 and 47ijn models with LED backlighting and Active Vision M400 HD processing.  Each can be calibrated using Toshiba's forthcoming, USB powered sensor.

They come with Freeview HD tuners and Toshiba's Personal TV system which uses a camera and  facial recognition to adjust the settings including EPG info according to the stored profile of the user.  The Toshiba Places connected TV portal adds apps such as YouTube and iPlayer with more downloadable from an online store and media sharing and streaming.

The VL series is due for release in May
