BBC HD & 3D boss Danielle Nagler quits

BBC HD & 3D chief Danielle Nagler is leaving and will not be replaced.

Control of BBC HD will pass to BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow, while the person responsible for 3D has yet to be named.

Danielle Nagler joined the BBC in 1996 as a journalist and became head of BBC HD in July 2008, overseeing the launch of BBC One HD in 2010 and the recent 3D tennis trials at Wimbledon.

However, she also came in for criticism from campaigners who held her responsible for a decline in picture quality on the BBC's HD channels.

Roly Keating, director of archived content at the BBC, said: 'I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Danielle for the exceptional contribution she has made to the BBC, and to Vision in particular: her passion, intellect, energy and drive have made remarkable things happen here, and she'll be much missed.

'We have decided not replace Danielle’s role directly, but instead Janice Hadlow has agreed to take on overall responsibility for the HD channel as we begin the process of moving BBC Two into the HD era.

'We will be announcing details regarding the handover of responsibilities for developing Vision’s future strategy for 3D in due course.'

Nagler will leave the BBC in September for City law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner.
