The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has insisted on two minutes of cuts to the Asian box office sensation 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy.
Due to open in the UK on September 2 in an exclusive deal between Odeon Cinemas and distributor Metrodome, the film had previously broken box office records across the Asia Pacific region, even beating out James Cameron's Avatar for day-one takings in Hong Kong (HK$2.79million vs. HK$2.5million).<!--break--> read more »
I'm standing before a cinema screen some 13m tall. Avatar is playing in 3D; Jake Scully has just landed on Pandora. But this is no regular movie screening. One half of the image is coming from a 3D Blu-ray disc, the other from the original digital source material. The Blu-ray is being played on a domestic player through a digital cinema projector. Astonishingly, there appears to be no discernable difference between the two sides. read more »
James Cameron has revealed that his 1997 epic Titanic will be setting sail on the big screen once again on April 6, 2012, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the start of the ship's doomed maiden voyage (April 10th, 1912). Samsung has unveiled a new range of high-end home cinema components to partner its flagship 9000 LED 3D TVs. Dubbed THE 9 Series, the system comprises a 7.1 home cinema package and unique pedestal 3D Blu-ray player.
All the components are finished in the same titanium alloy as the 9000 LED TVs, and feature money-no-object attention to detail.
The units, pictured below in pre-release prototype form, were unveiled this week at Salon Privé, a luxury goods event held at the prestigious Hurlingham Club in London. read more »
